About

The purpose of the Southern Baseball Academy and its affiliated baseball teams is to provide an opportunity for young men to develop their character and baseball abilities in a highly competitive environment.

Many of our players are provided with the chance to demonstrate their skills at events attended by college and professional scouts. Through this exposure, our goal is to assist our players in developing opportunities to pursue a college education while playing the game of baseball.

Accomplishing our goals begins with the player selection process. We require that our players possess the finest character, be outstanding students, have good baseball skills, and have supportive parents that bear these same priorities. We continue to teach the game of baseball, as well as the life skills, that are required to first be fine young men and secondly to be good student athletes at the next level. The qualities that we try to teach include integrity, respect, discipline, positive attitude, teamwork, sportsmanship.

Southern Baseball Academy, formerly known as North Florida Baseball Academy, has fielded baseball teams under the Florida Mustangs, East Coast Grays, and Marruci Elite names for several years. These teams have participated in many highly competitive events including Perfect Games’ World Word Bat Championships, BCS National Championships, Underclassmen Showcases and Upperclassmen Showcases. We have participated in many university showcases including events at Louisiana State University, University of Alabama, Auburn University, University of Southern Mississippi, University of Memphis, Delta State College, Pensacola State College, Northwest Florida State College, and several others. Beginning in 2010, our players have been given an exclusive opportunity to try out for a scout team coached and sponsored by the New York Mets organization. This scout team participated in two showcase events last Fall.

Many players participating in the organization have signed Division 1 and Junior College scholarships. We are proud to have been a part of these young men’s baseball career and are just as excited about their opportunity to pursue a higher education.
